Rotary Club of Fresno Donates $10,000 to Marjaree Mason Center

The Rotary Club of Fresno recently donated $10,000 to the Marjaree Mason Center. These funds will go towards emergency shelter and food services to victims of domestic violence. The need for this assistance has greatly increased during the COVID-19 Pandemic

For over 40 years, the Marjaree Mason Center has provided shelter and supportive services to adults and children impacted by domestic violence. These services include 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency and longer-term shelter, case management, individual and group counseling, children’s support, legal advocacy, community referrals, outreach and education.

“We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of the Fresno Rotary with this donation,” said Nicole Linder, executive director of the Marjaree Mason Center. “When families come to our Center, they are in an immediate crisis and in need of safety, and usually don’t have more than what they are wearing. As the only dedicated domestic violence agency in Fresno County, we are responsible for ensuring families are provided with safety and supportive services.”

Last year alone, Marjaree Mason Center provided more than 8,200 adults and their children with domestic violence supportive services.

“Fresno Rotary is a long-time supporter of the Marjaree Mason Center,” said Ryan Jacobsen, Rotary Club of Fresno President. “We are appreciative of the service they provide to those in need in our community.”

Rotary Club of Fresno Donates $10,000 to Valley Children's

The Rotary Club of Fresno recently donated $10,000 to the Valley Children’s Healthcare Foundation. These funds will go towards 200 Cancer Survivor Welcome Bags.

Included in the package is the PhotoVoice book, which is a compilation of stories from Valley Children's cancer survivors and includes many photographs through their journey. The book is displayed at their Survivorship Conferences.

“We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of Fresno Rotary with this donation,” said Vanessa Hanley, Senior Development Officer. “These welcome bags signify the beginning of their new journey as a survivor and will be offered when they “ring the bell” to signify their last day of treatment.”

Rotary Club of Fresno Donates $5,000 to Reading and Beyond

The Rotary Club of Fresno is pleased to announce they have awarded a $5,000 grant to Reading and Beyond to purchase laptops.

These laptops have connectivity to internet school programs for Fresno area students that would otherwise not be able to continue their education virtually.

“Our mission is to empower children and families to live productive, self-reliant lives,” said Luis Santana, Executive Director of Reading and Beyond. “We couldn’t be more thankful for this generous donation that will help children who need it the most.”

Reading and Beyond offers a two-generation program that works with children and parents together to build education, economic assets, social capital, and health and wellbeing to create economic security that passes from one generation to the next. They serve thousands of children from disadvantaged communities from various schools in the Fresno Unified School District.

“Local children have been hit hard by the pandemic,” said Ryan Jacobsen, Fresno Rotary President. “We are thrilled that this donation will be helping children get the education that they deserve.”

Annually, the Rotary Club of Fresno and the Fresno Rotary Foundation awards grants to educational and nonprofit charitable organizations in the greater Fresno area for projects that positively impact the community. Over the past century, the club has given more than $8 million to the community.
