Rotary Club of Fresno Donates $12,500 to CASA of Fresno and Madera Counties

The Rotary Club of Fresno is pleased to donate $12,500 to the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Fresno and Madera Counties (CASA). The funds will go towards implementing security measures for their Downtown Fresno office for the benefit of their staff and volunteers.

“We are beyond grateful for this generous donation from Fresno Rotary,” said Wilma Hashimoto, CASA Executive Director. “Since we are an arm-of-the-court and we work with the most at-risk vulnerable foster child cases, the nature of our work is of a stressful, high emotion setting. The addition of these security measures is much appreciated.”

CASA is a voice for abused and neglected children who have been placed in foster care. They work with the courts and speak on the behalf of the child’s best interest. These children are currently facing loneliness, health issues, a lack of stability and a great risk of falling behind educationally and developmentally. As adults, they are at greater risk of homelessness, substance abuse, imprisonment and more.

CASA currently has over 200 advocates assisting over 300 children. There are currently around 2,400 children in foster care in Fresno and Madera counties combined.

“We couldn’t be happier to donate to an organization like CASA,” said Mike Falge, chair of the Rotary Club of Fresno Foundation. “No one should have to feel unsafe while at work, and we are hopeful that this donation will eliminate any fears they may have so they can focus on helping the children who need it the most.”
